Douglas M. Gibler is Professor of Political Science at the Institute for Social Science Research at The University of Alabama. He is the author of The Territorial Peace: Borders, State Development, and International Conflict (Cambridge, 2012) as well as numerous journal articles. Doug is currently completing an undergraduate textbook on American Foreign Policy (Sage Publications).

Steven V. Miller is an associate professor in the Department of Economic History and Internal Relations at Stockholm University. His research interests focus on the conditions in which individuals embrace autocratic leaders in response to real or perceived threats. His research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals like Comparative Political Studies, International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Peace Research, Political Behavior, and Political Research Quarterly. More recent research is funded by the National Science Foundation and has even been highlighted in newspapers like The New York Times and The Washington Post.

Jessica Maves Braithwaite is an associate professor of political science in the School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona. Her work explores how dynamics of violent and nonviolent civil conflict affect and are affected by features of dissident organizations and state institutions. She is co-PI for the Foundations of Rebel Group Emergence (FORGE, with Kathleen Gallagher Cunningham) and the Anatomy of Resistance Campaigns (ARC, with Charles Butcher) datasets.
